Welcome to Glade United Church of Christ
(Glade Church). We are a congregation of caring, compassionate, friendly,
generous, and welcoming people who discovered the freedom and joy of
genuine faith. We are parents, singles, seniors, teens, and children
who live out our faith daily in our varied walks of life. We offer an
extravagant welcome to all people regardless of age, race, gender, lifestyle,
or sexual orientation.
We are an established church with a rich history, building upon hospitality
and faith—sharing with all ages. Central to our ministry is a
strong mission of outreach that reflects our clear and strong sense
of what we exist to do as a church—to experience and share the
love of Jesus Christ.
Whether it is in Honduras where we work with the poor to build new
houses; or in leading this community in a Habitat for Humanity house
build; or serving at the Frederick Soup Kitchen; or in a wonderfully
varied music program; or in our highly relevant and contemporary classes
for adults and children; or in our ministries with children and youth;
we are committed to being a people with a vision that is transforming
our lives.
Our core values are faith, growth, worship, gratitude, stewardship,
inclusiveness, Christian education, and prayer. These core values help
to tell who we are and who we are striving to become. We are members
of the United Church of Christ, a community of faith that seeks to respond
to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
Please come to worship with us! Glade Church meets every Sunday morning,
10:30 a.m. (September through May) or 9:30 a.m. (June through
August). Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
We provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for all children
and infants.
We provide an opportunity and atmosphere for the worship of God through
uplifting, inspiring worship and music, preaching and teaching relevant
to the issues you face daily. Welcome to all who wish to worship and
learn with us. Welcome seekers. May you meet people like yourself searching
for community and meaning for your life.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
