Chad Weddle

Chad Weddle will be joining us as our Interim Pastor. Chad has held the interim pastor position at four different churches in the area before joining us here at Glade UCC.

Chad was interim pastor at Beaver Dam Church of the Brethren December 2012 – January 2015, and also at Faith UCC May 2015 – December 2016. He was also at Jefferson UCC twice once from May 2009-October 2011 and again January 2017 – February 2018. Before coming to Glade he was serving as the long term supply pastor at two United Church of Christ churches, Faith UCC and Mt. Pleasant UCC, and also at Adamstown Community Church, a non-denominational church.

Dr. William (Bill) D. Powell, III

Dr. William (Bill) D. Powell, III, directs and oversees Glade’s music program. He plays organ and piano for weekly Sunday morning worship services, special services, and when available, plays for weddings and memorial services. Bill directs the Senior Choir and the Glade Tower Hand Bell Choir, holds rehearsals, and works with volunteer leaders of the youth music program. Bill plays all types of music—classical organ, gospel and blues on piano, and modern contemporary songs.

A native of Walkersville, Bill is a lifetime member of Glade UCC. After graduating from Walkersville High School, he received his B.A. degree in psychology at Hood College in Frederick, his M.A. degree in Church Music at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, and his doctorate of music degree from Shenandoah.

In addition to serving at Glade, Bill is organist at St Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Catholic Church in Frederick, assistant organist at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick, and adjunct instructor of piano at Hood College.

Church Administrator

Tammie Shumaker works closely with the pastor, other staff, and the volunteers, to ensure that things run smoothly. She is responsible for handling most of the administrative work for the church office. Tammie is also the initial point of contact for memorial contributions, use of the facilities, or to put others in touch with the appropriate parties within Glade who may be of further assistance.
